Are you ready for a new vision for Chattanooga, one that takes care of everyone, including immigrants?

Immigrant and refugee families are deeply rooted in Chattanooga, but many face barriers to living and working freely in the city. These barriers and inequities have been laid bare over the past year as Black and brown communities, including immigrants, have faced the highest COVID-19 infection and death rates and increased economic fallout while working on the front lines of the pandemic.

The Chattanooga municipal elections are right around the corner, and this year Chattanooga has an opportunity to advance a new vision of belonging for our community and our state-- an inclusive and equitable society that takes care of everyone, immigrants included.

No matter where we’re from or how we got here, we all deserve resources and opportunities to help our families grow and thrive.

That’s why we created a blueprint for the next mayor and council of Chattanooga. Through conversations and surveys with immigrant and refugee community members and partner organizations, we have outlined specific policies that the next municipal government can implement to make sure Chattanooga is a welcoming and inclusive city that values the humanity and dignity of all.

As Chattanooga’s foreign-born population continues to grow, we must enact bold and robust pro-immigrant policy solutions that last during and beyond the pandemic and help build our shared prosperity.
