Tamales y Poder Comunitario! Tamales and Community Power Event Recap.

In Memphis, we channeled this same spirit of resilience through a community tamale-making event with our partners at Venindarios 901. While designed to thank the volunteers who helped protect our community, the day became an intergenerational exchange of recipes and traditions from Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. It ended, as our best events do, with music, dancing, and children playing—reminding us that joy is the antidote to fear and the foundation of the community we are building together.
