Hyper-local organizing and mutual aid in Memphis.

Community members in Memphis are leading the way in how neighbors can support each other through mutual aid. From the continued occupation of Memphis by the National Guard to attacks on the city's autonomy by the Tennessee General Assembly to the impacts of Winter Storm Fern, our West Tennessee community has used mutual aid—the act of neighbors supporting each other through both financial and social support—to keep itself safe and share resources. TIRRC currently supports 8 priority neighborhoods where we are organizing at a hyper-local level, empowering volunteers, neighbors, allies, churches, and businesses to take accountability for those who are vulnerable, block by block. This has been so successful that we are looking to take this model to Chattanooga!
