Education for All defended, again.

We believe that regardless of their skin color, where they were born, or how much their parents earn, every single child across the state of Tennessee deserves access to a high-quality public school education in their own neighborhood. These are clear rights guaranteed by our state and federal constitutions and affirmed by the Supreme Court's Plyler v. Doe Decision, which holds that free and fair public education for all is a bedrock of our democracy. 

Yet for the second legislative session in a row, those freedoms and rights have been threatened by bills in the Tennessee General Assembly, such as HB793/SB836 and HB1711/SB2108. But thanks to the thousands of you who made your voices heard by coming to the Capitol, contacting your legislators, and organizing your communities, we were able to protect this invaluable freedom for all children once again! Every attempt they made to try to keep kids from attending public schools, and the multiple attempts to track them at school, failed.

Memphis Mobilizes.

This year, the groups that showed up week after week to support our Education for All campaign came from West Tennessee. Partners from Memphis Rise Academy, Memphis Business Academy, and Overton High School organized both students and teachers to attend and make their voices heard. Now, four of those students have joined our affiliate organization, TIRRC Votes, as canvassers!
