On Tuesday, March 27th the House State Government Committee will be voting on SB 2333/HB 2312, one of the country’s most discriminatory and mean-spirited identification bans. This bill prohibits any government agency from accepting consular IDs, making it difficult for immigrant families to access critical services and verify their identity in routine encounters with law enforcement.  It will also further marginalize vulnerable Tennessee citizens by prohibiting the acceptance of any non-state issued ID for identification or to establish residency.

CAN YOU TAKE ONE MINUTE TO SEND A MESSAGE TO MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE BEFORE THEY VOTE ON HB2312 ON TUESDAY?

SB 2333/HB 2312 passed the Senate State and Local Government Committee and the House State Government Sub-Committee.  If it becomes law, it will create significant barriers for Tennessee citizens and residents to interact with their government, waste local law enforcement resources and undermine public safety, and further marginalize already vulnerable Tennesseans.  Read our policy brief for legislators here.

WE NEED YOU TO HELP US STOP IT!

Thank you for all you do to make Tennessee a welcoming place for all!
