The pressure is working and the momentum is building.

Since Trump terminated DACA in September, we’ve been putting non-stop pressure on Senators Alexander and Corker to stand up for the 8,400+ immigrant youth in Tennessee who’ve been protected by the program.

Today, Senator Alexander signed on as a cosponsor of the forthcoming, bipartisan deal on DACA being negotiated by Senators Durbin (D-IL) and Graham (R-SC). Read more here. Senator Alexander is among the first group of senators to sign onto the bill, one of just seven Republicans. He is helping lead the way to finding a solution to the risks facing DACA recipients.

Can you take 1 minute to send a thank you note to Senator Alexander and urge Senator Corker to sign on, too?

This is a huge boost of momentum in Congress and a testament to the power of immigrant youth in Tennessee. Together, we’ve made and sent thousands of calls and emails to Senator Alexander. Hundreds of us have marched and held vigils at his office. And just this week immigrant youth marched to his Nashville home, asking him to be a champion for the Dream Act.

And he listened.

While all the details of the deal are not yet available, we know that we’ll have work to do to make sure that the final deal offers a path to citizenship for the largest number of immigrant youth, without including provisions that harm other immigrant communities. And we need it to pass this week.

We can’t let up now. We need Congress to pass the Dream Act by Friday as part of the spending deal. As we write this email, immigrant youth from Tennessee are on their way to D.C. to keep the pressure up and make sure Congress passes the Dream Act by Friday.

Can you join them in taking action and sending a quick note of thanks to Senator Alexander and ask Senator Corker to join him?

P.S. Today’s news shows that organizing works and what’s possible when we invest in immigrant youth to lead powerful campaigns for justice. Your support makes this work possible. Please make a donation today!
