Raised in Atlanta, Ashley moved to New Orleans in 2006 to pursue a Bachelors of Arts in Latin American Studies and Political Science from Tulane University. She earned her MA in TESOL from the University of Southern California. After graduation, she relocated to Porto Alegre, Brazil, where she worked with adult English learners. Upon returning to the U.S. in 2013, Ashley moved to Nashville to serve as the Adult Education Coordinator for the Nashville International Center of Empowerment (NICE). She joined TIRRC staff in September 2017 as the Advocacy Coordinator working with refugees and allies across the state to support initiatives that sustain refugee integration and bolster support for Tennessee's refugee resettlement program.
