TIRRC is a statewide, immigrant and refugee-led collaboration whose mission is to empower immigrants and refugees throughout Tennessee to develop a unified voice, defend their rights, and create an atmosphere in which they are recognized as positive contributors to the state.
On Sunday, March 21st, over 500 TIRRC members on 10 charter buses headed to Washington DC to join 200,000 others from across the nation in the March for America. We represented thousands more from throughout TN who live with consequences of a broken immigration system and are working for realistic solutions that reflect our values and move us forward together!
The event was an amazing success - and we couldn't possibly have done it without the generosity and support of the following local businesses, media outlets, and organizations.

With healthcare finally coming to a close, Washington has a few months before the summer to prove to the American people that they can solve the tough problems facing our nation. As the only truly bi-partisan issue on the Congressional docket, there are many hopeful signs that immigration reform can be achieved this spring.
Just yesterday, President Obama affirmed his support at the March for America. We will find out soon whether his words, and those of other elected officials from across this country, are rhetoric or a genuine concern for the millions of immigrants and refugees suffering at the hands of a broken system.
Here in TN, we won't be waiting to find out. This past weekend was just the beginning of our campaign to advance meaningful immigration reform in 2010. Our next community meeting will be April 17th (details TBA). Join us. We need you.
More pictures and videos from the March for America will be uploaded in the days, weeks ahead! Make sure to follow us on facebook and twitter for regular updates.
